Advent is a time of preparation leading up to the celebration of the nativity of Jesus Christ, observed by many Christians around the world. It is the period of four Sundays and weeks preceding Christmas Day. During this time, Christians focus on spiritual preparation and reflection, preparing to celebrate the coming of Jesus.
The word “Advent“ comes from the Latin word “adventus,” which means “coming.” This is a reference to the birth of Jesus Christ, which the Bible says happened on the 25th of December. Advent marks the beginning of the Christian liturgical year and is often celebrated with special church services, music, and decorations.
Advent is usually observed from the first Sunday of the liturgical year, which falls on the fourth Sunday before Christmas. During this period, Christians around the world often engage in special activities and traditions to prepare for the celebration of Jesus’ birth. These activities can include attending Advent services, special Bible readings, and participating in other special events.
